"This field guide presents site classification and identification information for ecosystems of the southern Thompson-Okanagan, following the Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification (BEC) system (described in Chapter 2). It is part of a three-volume series for the Thompson-Okanagan Region that updates the biogeoclimatic and site classification for the southern Thompson-Okanagan that was previously published for the former Kamloops Forest Region (Lloyd et al. 1990). This guide covers much of the Thompson Plateau, along with portions of the Hozameen Range and Okanagan Range to the south, the Cascade Mountains and Clear, Camelsfoot, and Marble Ranges to the west, small portions of the Okanagan and Shuswap highlands to the east, and a small portion of the Fraser Plateau to the north. It includes the Merritt Timber Supply Area of the Cascades Forest District, the southern portion of the Thompson Rivers District, and the western portion of the Okanagan-Shuswap District."-- Introduction, page 1.
