"Canada's incredibly rich heritage of French folksongs is, for the most part, unknown to English-speaking people, largely because of the language barrier and also because few of the stongs have been translated "singably" enough to encourage those not acquainted with the French language to familiarize themselves with the songs and thus share some of the enjoyment they have to offer. This book, with translations by the popular Canadian interpreter of folksongs, Alan Mills, has been published with the hope and intent of filling the void and remedying this situation."-- page [2] of cover.
