Will Hazel stay loyal to her mother, or will she try to return to her old life? Readability: Grade 4.
"It was a good book. I liked it because it got you thinking about why the mom and daughter lived on the street. The book, "In from the cold", helped get my reading better. If there was more help for the woman she would have never killed her husband." – July 2011 Exemplary Literacy Materials Online Reviews.
"I enjoyed reading this novel with my learner. The topic was interesting, and the author Deborah Ellis kept the reader in suspense until the end of the story. This made it easy to continue reading with my learner. The story's theme, domestic violence and abuse, helped raise important questions about violence against women and it encouraged the reader to consider what other choices the main character could have made for a different outcome." – July 2011 Exemplary Literacy Materials Online Reviews.
