Black sun : the battle of Summit Springs, 1869 / Terry C. Johnston.
It is 1869, and the Kansas Pacific Railway is pushing its way west. Hit-and-run raids by Cheyenne are slowing its progress. In midsummer, the 5th Cavalry mounts a brutal, surprise attack on the encamped Cheyenne. As a result, a new Cheyenne leader emerges. Called White Horse, he leads his people in an ill-fated attack known as the Battle of Summit Springs in the Colorado Territory.
