Summary:
Sarah was born and brought up in a small cabin on the shores of Lake Winnipeg, where she spent her days playing with Loki the raven and her dog Baldur. Because her mother is dead and Sarah only speaks Icelandic, her father sends her away to the city to live with an English family. Once her father has left, the family turns on her and forces her to work like a slave. Only a mysterious raven and a native man and woman who bring her magic gifts make it possible for her to survive her ordeal.
