Summary: 1896: Sherlock Holmes is once again the headline, and resolves business for the cream of the crop of London society. But in the poor neighborhoods of the city, far from the comfort of Baker Street, private investigator William Arrowood has to deal with equally difficult cases and far less well paid. Arrowood does not wear Sherlock Holmes in his heart, and claims a radically different way of working. So, when Mr. and Mrs. Barclay appeal to him and his assistant Norman Barnett to find their daughter Birdie, mentally deficient, Arrowood is confident that it will not be long before he completes his investigation.
